Who Owns What

This week's readings do a stellar job of untangling the history of vertical and horizontal media convergence approaching the new millennium, and put forth some new ideas for theoretical frameworks through which to view our new multimedia multinational convergence culture. However, these giant corporations are changing faster than we can write about them, which means some of Jennifer Holt's history in particular feels cut off too soon.

If you're looking for a list of what each of the big media companies own (it's so much more than TV and videogames), you can head over to the Columbia Journalism Review. It has a section called "Who Owns What" that allows you to search by media conglomerate. Just a heads up though that even this information is out of date, since Time Warner Inc announced several new acquisitions last month.
